From the beginning onwards, Broadway musicals have found a special place in every music and melody loving hearts. Each musical and bands are unique in its own ways. There are some iconic features which make them different from each other. Anyone who attended the musical shows gets lost n the world of fantastic music and beats. It is one of the famous models of art which has mesmerized the New Yorkers for more than 150 years. Even at the present day, it is one of the crowds attracting even in the country. There are a few benchmark titled shows and bands which are still relevant in the world of musicals. We will be further discussing it more in the coming paragraphs. The Black Crook

When talking about the benchmark titled shows, The Black Crook, is worth mentioning. It is not only considered as the first musical, but it starts off in 1866, which consist of a mixture many talent and art. While mentioning The Black Crook here, it is not only because of its lighting and content, but also the reason that it was one the first show to be ever cast. Its significance in the history of musicals is far more than we think. The show was put up in several stages and ran around 474 performances.

Of Thee I Sing

It is considered as one of the satires mocking American politics. Both George and Ira Gershwin wrote the musical. It was also converted into a book by Morrie Ryskind and George S. Kaufman. The musical was performed in the year 1931 and has won Pulitzer Award for Drama. It was only after this musical; the American Musical theatre came into existence.

Oklahoma!

Oklahoma! Is considered as the template for the musical theatre since its approach. Even though the main storyline and plot revolved around the three characters, narrating the triangle love story, the music and lyrics made it unique.

Show Boat

It was based on the Edna Ferber’s novel named Show Boat. In the year 1927, the musical was performed including the Oscar Hammerstein’s lyrics and Jerome Kern’s music. The main content is based on miscegenation and racism. The musical, Show Boat is known as the first serious step towards the advancement and revolution.

Kiss Me, Kate

Considering the other musicals, there is no particular feature which makes the 1948’s Kiss Me, Kate. Besides, it is famous for its construction, complexity, musical comedy, and brilliant content of show-within-a show.  The main point nit miss here is that Kiss Me, Kate is the first one to achieve the Tony Award for the Best Musical.

Fiddler on the Roof

A masterpiece in the history of musicals. It was created by Jerry Bock, Joseph Stein, and Sheldon Harnick. For Music, book, and lyrics, respectively. The content of Fiddler on the Roof comprises of a funny, poignant, and also a tragic story depicting two Jewish families. The show was known as a famous one to cross over 3000 performances in musical history.
